Montana had been a bucket list destination for my wife and I quite some time. Long had we dreamed about taking photos of the sky and mountains perfectly reflected in the still water below. When we learned of the wildfires in and around the area we knew those picturesque moments wouldn’t be possible, at least not to the degree we had always imagined. Despite some trepidation, we moved ahead with our plans and thank goodness we did! While things were “different”, the scenery was still beautiful in its own right. A lesson learned for travel adventures in the future.
First stop was our resort nestled on Whitefish Lake. This would serve as home base while we spent time in Glacier National Park - our primary destination.
For the next few days we dedicated our time to exploring the park which meant hiking as many trails as we could. A drive along the “Going to the Sun Highway” with frequent stops to soak up nature’s beauty was also a must.
